FMQ Sampler

The trapunto turned out well. I used a washed-out variegated thread.

The remainder of the quilt is slowly becoming an FMQ practice piece....an unplanned zen tangle....a sampler, if you will. I am using a very bright variegated thread. I am running out of ideas, but a quick visit to Day Style Designs should set me up - forever. This is very intense quilting. I would never quilt this much for a bed quilt.

This little Punk starts grade one tomorrow. She saw the camera and went into smiling-and-posing mode. She is so excited to meet her teacher this morning for her IP planning.

My Pixie had decided that she needs food prep lessons. Here she is chopping olives for our salad; It was her first time using a knife and cutting board. What the picture doesn't show is how proud of herself she is - or how many olives made it into her mouth, and not into the salad bowl!

This is the recipe we made up, and it was very tasty!

Green and Red Salad

1 bunch curly parsley, finely chopped
2-3 cups sunflower sprouts, washed and spun dry
1/2 red bell pepper, chopped
2 tomatoes, chopped
2 small cukes, chopped
15-20 stuffed green olives, pre-schooler chopped
1 avocado, chopped

Sprinkle with sea salt and pepper, 1/2 tsp dried basil, a swirl of EVOO, and a dash of balsamic. Toss and enjoy!

  2. Love the quilting detail on your quilt, and kids off to school, well, it has been so long I have forgotten what that entails, and so many changes, I'm sure it would have me stumped! Must remember to SLOW Down the car in all those school zones!

  6. Great quilting and great kids. I am amazed they eat olives and tomatoes - I have adult kids who still avoid tomatoes....
